About me
Jen Fortin is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Music Performance. She also earned her Masters Degree in Education from Thomas College in 2019. Jen began her teaching career at Scarborough High School in Houston,TX. She moved back to Maine in the fall of 2000 where she taught for half a year at China Middle School, 11 years at Edward Little High School, 13 years at Skowhegan Area High School and currently teaches at Skowhegan Area Middle School. At SAMS, Jen teaches general music to grades 6-8 as well as Chorus. Jen is also the co-founder and manager of the Acadia Wind Ensemble, a premier group of music educators and community musicians who perform amazing music with guest conductors every summer.
Jen resides in Vassalboro, ME with her husband, Greg, two children, Emma and Cole. When Jen is not teaching and playing music, she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
