Conductor and music educator Darrel Whidden joined the music department at South Portland High School as choral director in the fall of 2022. There, he teaches music electives, and conducts the chorus, and award-winning South Portland Chamber Singers. Previously, Darrel has taught general music, instrumental, and choral music at the primary, secondary and collegiate levels in Maine, and Massachusetts for the last 20 years. B.M., Music Education, Osher School of Music. M.M., Choral Conducting, New England Conservatory. Conducting and vocal studies with Erica J. Washburn, director of choral activities, New England Conservatory. Christian Giddings is a conductor, composer, and passionate music educator from Unity, Maine. Christian holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona and M.M. and B.M. degrees in Music Education from the University of Maine. He has taught and led ensembles of all ages and experience levels in Maine, Arizona, and North Dakota. Currently, Christian serves as Music Director for the Tri-City Community Chorus in Biddeford, is a Co-Founder and Music Director of the Maine Music Collective, and Choral Director at Noble Middle & High School in North Berwick, Maine.
